Basic Troubleshooting for JellyFinn
What is Jellyfinn and How it Works 101:
Jellyfinn is a way to share our media over the internet to any device.
Jellyfinn requires a proper internet connection to the "Server" (the PC that has all of our media on it). This means that both devices need to be connected to the internet to access Jellyfinn (the PC and whatever device you are trying to watch the media on)
If there is no internet at home, use VLC to watch media on the TV. You will not be able to see the media on any other device if the Server PC does not have an internet connection.
Issues when trying to use Jellyfinn at home on wifi:
Issue: Cannot connect to Jellyfinn from the computer.
Solution: Re-establish connection to Jellyfinn.
-
1)Make sure the computer is connected to the internet
- a)If the wifi is working on other devices but not on this PC, restart the PC
- b)If wifi is down for the whole house look at Internet Troubleshooting Page
-
2)Once access to the internet is established, re-establish the Jellyfinn Server connection
- a)Find the Jellyfinn Logo: On the bottom right of the PC (near the clock) there is a Jellyfinn logo (purple/blue triangle)
- i)If the logo is not present in the toolbar: click the carrot that is pointing up to see the hiden logos
- b)Right click the logo and click "Start Jellyfinn"
